It's a blue Christmas
Typically I don't choose a color theme for Christmas. It is usually a very colorful hodge podge Christmas in my home. This year, however, I am in the mood for a handmade blue Christmas. Luckily the internet has a plethora of handmade Christmas tutorials. I stumbled across a very easy, budget friendly tree tutorial. As I blogged about in a previous post, I am all about yarn lately. I have more than enough yarn to make 2086430956849 yarn tree forests! I am really slacking with decorating this year as well. Besides the yarn wreath, this is the only decorating I have done so far. Oh I almost forgot to mention. Notice the nice apothecary jar filled with Martha Stewart glitter ornaments?? I picked that up at Goodwill for $1.99!!

Yarn wreath
I have the craft bug. I always get it around Christmas. I just love creating things to display in my home for the holidays. After Christmas last year, I decided it was finally time to retire the worn out fake pine wreath. I wanted something a little different this year. I am really into yarn lately so, why not a yarn wreath?!?!

Advent calendar progress
As promised, I am posting an update with the progress of my advent calendar. I finished the quilting this morning. Now I need to bind it and decide how I want to hang it.
I really should have followed the advice of a friend and quilted it with straight stitches but I like a challenge. I am also a perfectionist so I am a little dissappointed with the uneven stitches. lol I need much more practice. Also, I am aware that the numbers are not in order. As I said before, I like a challenge and I like to challenge my children. I think it will be fun for them to find the correct pocket each day.

Trying my hand at quilting
Photo courtesy Sew Mama Sew blog
I have been making clothing for a little over a year now. I feel like it is time to step out and try something different. I absolutely LOVE Christmas so when I found this cute advent calendar on SewMamaSew's blog I had to try it. I have created all the pockets, I am now piecing it together. I don't know the technical terms yet. lol I'll keep you updated on my progress!

I made another attempt at refashioning/upcycling. I really like the results and hope to offer these in the shop this Fall.

Refashioned
I've recently found the refashioned clothing love. The environmentalist in me hates to throw out clothing that has a small stain or rip. So, I've begun refashioning my salvageable clothing into gorgeous items for my daughter.
This is a shirt that had a small stain on the collar, refashioned into a stylish shirred top for my sweet daughter.

Boys item
Finally, an item for the boys! I'm so excited about this. My boys are jealous that I am always making clothes for their sister. I finally made something for them! I love these board shorts. The pattern is by Figgy's Studio. I am in love with this fabric also! My husband thinks it is too girly.....what does he know? lol
